Councillor Baldock gets hot under the collar for GEARS

At the meeting of the GEARS steering group last week, residents complained once again about the ongoing waste tip that 2a Romulus Street has become since the fire.

I had already explained that officers of the council have been in touch with the owner and asked him to clear it up but that we were not getting very far. I also had explained previously that we could force them to do this, but that could take a long time

Residents explained that the mess and the smell and the general discomfort was rising higher by the day, so in the end I said that although it would be trespassing, I would do it myself, because I really did not want them to suffer any more. I have done this before, mainly in L6, but once or twice in L7, and I wont hesitate to do it again either, because I am not scared of being challenged about trespass for such a good reason.

Thankfully, I persuaded the wonderful people of the Clean Team to help me and they cleaned out the back yard at the same time. That was piled up at head height we discovered when we arrived. All kudos to them.

I know you saw me knee deep in rubbish, but some of your fellow residents did not, so I thought I would send you some photos that you can share with them if you wish

Best wishes

New GEARS Easter Egg Hunt a Smash Hit and Eggstastic Success

Darren and Linda Organized the Great New GEARS Easter Egg Hunt.

Over 50 ( a nice mixture of Kids and Parents) Residents turned up to find the hidden Yellow Chicks, collect three chicks and you could trade them in for a Chocolate Egg.

The only one problem with asking kids to go searching over the park was the chance they might pick up “brown chicks”, or Dog Pooh which unfortunately litters most of  Birchfield Park, we certainly didnt want the young people to collect any of those.

Grafitti All Gone off the Pennny Bench

The mortar on the Penny Bench has been replaced with a concrete based material, the whole lot should be chipped out and replaced, so that’s something for the future, the grafitti has also been removed using a special solvent. Hopefully it’ll stop, but you know what young people are like, they’ll do it, we’ll remove it etc etc and see who  see who gets fed up first/

I See Ice

Well we’re all back from sunny Wales. Didnt Skate myself as I had premonition that I would end up loosing a finger or breaking an arm, something I can ill afford.

So to the stats, 48 went , 32 young people, and 16 adults including John and Dean, who kept order over the Red Bull induced antics. Big thanks to them and C7 for joining in and to Kensington Regeneration a big thanks to them for subsidising the trip.

Interestingly the 500 or so people there all acted in civilsied enjoying themsleves in a purposeful healthy activity swelling the coffers of Flint County Council to the tune of about £6000. The most interesting bit was talking to the woman who comes all the way from Norris Green every Friday Night (probably since the Silver Blades shut), plus the lads at the front upstairs for some reason thought everyone there were “Mancs”… they did know we were in Wales its just I think the word manc has become a generic word for out of towners.

Anyhow here’s the photos

I See Ice and Green Fingers

summer-flowering-bulbs-ip

440

Good news we’ve just found out Kenny Regen have decided to give us over £1000 from the Communtiy Fund to take a group of young people Ice Skating at Deeside (interestingly apparently 80% of people who go to Queensferry for coaching are from Liverpool, maybe we should have our own Ice Rink here?) and also take another group of our older residents then to a couple fo graden centres near Southport for a day out. Alarmingly the elders trip is aimed at the over 50’s which makes me eligible for both trips being 52 in human years and a mental age of 15 (well sense of humour anyway). Stey tuned to find out more details about the trips later.
